Baron's Bring Your Kids to Work Day

On Thursday, April 28, 2016, Baron Environmental Associates hosted its first Bring Your Kids To Work Day. The kids started their busy day by introducing themselves and told the group what their parents did while working for Baron. The Baron team explained our Scrum/Agile Board and gave the kids tasks to accomplish during the day, keeping track of these tasks on our Scrum/Agile Board. The kids assisted the office by answering the incoming telephone calls, and they worked on our marketing efforts by applying labels and stamps to postcards. Spring Into the New Season with These Fresh Recipes

Spring has sprung and so we present to you another set of our favorite recipes! Enjoy! Pineapple Pico de Gallo (Recipe endorsed by Brian Long) Ingredients: 2/3 cup diced Roma tomato, seeded 1/2 cup diced fresh pineapple* 1/4 cup diced red onion 4 medium scallions, finely chopped, including some green stem (about 1/4 cup) 1 medium jalapeño, finely chopped Juice of 1 fresh medium lime (about 2-3 Tbsp.) 1/2 cup finely chopped fresh cilantro 1 tsp. extra virgin olive oil 1 tsp. apple cider vinegar Salt to taste Directions: In medium bowl, gently combine all ingredients. Process Safety Management and OSHA's National Emphasis

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) instituted a “National Emphasis Program” to conduct both targeted and random inspections of facilities subject to the Process Safety Management (PSM) regulations. OSHA has responded to several high profile incidents by initiating a program to help assure that facilities handling highly hazardous chemicals are meeting the PSM regulations in an effort to reduce incidents. Summary of Year One of OSHA's Severe Injury Reporting Program

David Michaels, the Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health, recently published a report on the results of the first year of OSHA’s Severe Injury Reporting Program. Beginning on January 1, 2015, employers were required to report any work-related amputation, in-patient hospitalization or loss of an eye within 24 hours. OSHA received more than 10,000 reports of incidents meeting these criteria during 2015. Of the reports submitted, about 75% were for hospitalizations and about 25% were for amputations.
