Emergency Response Plans

No one expects an emergency or a disaster. Emergencies can occur at anytime, to anyone, anywhere. Preparing for an emergency incident before it happens plays a vital role in ensuring that both employers and workers have the necessary tools and equipment, they know where to go, and how to keep themselves safe when an emergency occurs. Employers should establish effective emergency response plans, review them with employees, practice the procedures or “drill” and re-evaluate periodically.

Response plans need to include escape procedures and escape routes; special procedures for employees who perform or shut down critical plan operations; systems to account for all employees after evacuation; and rescue/medical duties for employees who perform them.
