OSHA’s Electronic Injury/Illness E-Reporting Rule Delay

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has delayed the deadline for employers to electronically submit the OSHA Form 300A for reporting injury and illness data for 2016. This requirement stems from the rule entitled “Improve Tracking of Workplace Injuries and Illnesses” which was published in May 2016. For more information on this rule, please visit:

The new reporting deadline is December 1, 2017. OSHA has postponed the reporting date to allow more time for employers to become acclimated with the new electronic reporting system as well as give OSHA additional time to review the requirements before they are implemented. OSHA anticipates the electronic reporting system will be available by August 1st. OSHA’s electronic reporting webpage can be reached at:

All facilities with more than 250 employees will be required to provide the OSHA Form 300A data in this manner along with all facilities in a “high-hazard” industry category with 20 or more employees. “High-hazard” industries include all manufacturing NAICS codes in the rule’s present form.
