EPA Penalty Increase

EPA has increased penalties for numerous violations of environmental laws and regulations. The Final Rule was published in the Federal Register on February 6, 2019 and applies to all violations that occurred or will occur after November 2, 2015 and for which penalties are assessed after February 6, 2019. Many maximum penalties rose by approximately $2,000 per day, per violation as shown by the table below.
