On November 15, 2023, NJDEP issued a compliance advisory update on the 2022 North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) and the Community Right to Know (CRTK) Program.
The US EPA published a rule on November 28, 2022, updating the list of North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes. Facilities that are subject to reporting under the Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) program must reflect the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) NAICS code revision. Please note that the required submittal of TRI reports due on July 1, 2024 must include the revised NAICS codes as noted in the 2022 rule promulgation.
It is important to validate that the NAICS code is accurate, the agency relies on the information to determine if a facility is subject to the Community Right to Know regulations.
