30 Year Anniversary of EPA's Pollution Prevention Week

Updated: Nov 11, 2020

The USEPA is celebrating 30 years of Pollution Prevention (P2) the week of September 21-27, 2020 ( https://www.epa.gov/p2 ).  P2 focuses on eliminating the sources of pollution as a cost effective and efficient way to reduce our impact on the environment.

Solutions are often available that also reduce the costs to the operation, whether that be for a household, office, manufacturing plant, school, service company, government agency, anyone/any operation.  The USEPA website provides valuable information about approaches to P2 including real life case studies, that can match your issues. P2 through waste minimization often preserves valuable natural resources supporting efforts to ensure a sustainable future.  The USEPA has also implemented a number of Waste and Toxic material reporting requirements that makes this data publicly available.  This includes for example, the annual Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), and specifically in NJ, the P2 Plan Summary and Release and Pollution Prevention Report (RPPR).

Baron recently worked with a manufacturing operation reviewing their overall process, documenting equipment & procedures and providing training to operators, that will result in increased efficiency of running and maintaining the operations going forward. This will also reduce raw material usage, wastes generated and associated costs.

For those that need guidance on how to prevent pollution within their operations, or on TRI, P2, and RPPR (for NJ), and either how to comply with or how to avoid these regulatory programs, feel free to reach out to us.
