A COMMON MISTAKE we see with teams building EHS for the long-term...


To add to Brian's video post over the weekend.... When it comes to building EHS for the long-term, there’s a COMMON MISTAKE we often see. EHS teams are:


• Laser-focused on meeting today’s requirements,

• Making sure records are in order, and

• Keeping everyone accountable.


Necessary? Absolutely!


But is it enough to drive long-term success?


Not even close.


Think about this. Successful businesses grow when everyone knows the direction, the goals, and how their role fits into the bigger picture. Why should your EHS program be any different? It’s not enough to just check boxes – your team must be fully involved and understand ‘why’ each requirement matters.


It’s a process that requires continual communication, alignment, and active participation from ‘everyone’ – production, maintenance, office staff, lab workers, and more. Each role plays a part in ensuring EHS goals are met.


Now, this may sound like a lot of work. And it is.


But you have options:


1. Continue managing things as they are. Though that usually means addressing the same challenges over and over,

2. Commit to making this approach a priority and invest the time and energy on an ongoing basis to get it right, or

3. Bring in some help to streamline the process.


Whichever path you choose, remember: it’s not one and done. It’s integral work for the long term!
